"Olympic Style Shooting", describes our junior activities. Our junior shooting team is one of the most competitive in the nation and is ranked in the top 10! The league is open to ages 10 and up. Sign-ups are in November. Target .22 caliber rifles and air rifles are available. Both male and female participants are encouraged. Shooting has long had the stigma of being a male sport, but as many a competitor has found, the female sportswoman has a keen eye for shooting. It is a worthwhile sport to pursue as the Junior Olympics can potentially lead to college scholarships, such as the Herbert M. Aitken Scholarship.
Junior programs provide opportunities for youth to get started in the safe fun of target shooting. Using air rifles or small caliber, .22 rifles, the members are mentored by experienced coaches throughout the program, learning firearm basics and most importantly, safety. Many of our junior members have done extremely well in regional and national competitions.
The Junior Shooting Team signups and practices are held in the indoor range in Yuba City.
